Merry Christmas!

17 December 2020

The centre is now closed to the public until Tuesday 5th January, with the exception of Childs Play Private Nursery (see their website for details).

We would like to thank all of our user groups, customers and partners for their continued support throughout this past year, which saw us all face challenges like never before. It is thanks to support from yourselves that we are able to continue to provide the facility we do for our community.

We have managed despite the challenges to open in a safe and COVID secure environment ensuring everyone's safety and enabling people to once again come together and socialise, continue to provide a home to our cherished user groups who are invaluable to their members, provide sporting facilities that meet government requirements for local schools, support local school children during half term with a free lunch and utilise our space to provide storage for the local foodbank.

As well as this we have also managed to make major improvements to our centre such as the installation of new LED lighting throughout, upgrade to conference facilities and refurbishment of the studio.

The whole team at Ferryhill Sport & Education Centre would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Ferryhill Six Fundraise for FSEC Soccer Stars

22 September 2020

We were delighted earlier this year to be approached by the Ferryhill Six requesting permission to fundraise for our Saturday morning football academy "FSEC Soccer Stars" ran by our coach Peter Bihari. Last week the ladies of the Ferryhill Six presented a cheque for £200 to us for the group. We can not thank them enough for raising these funds for us, especially in these difficult times.

The group are now going on to raise funds for St Cuthberts Hospice and we wish them every success with their efforts!

Upgrading our Conference Room

21 September 2020

Thanks to funding from the County Durham Community Foundation, we have been able to completely revamp our conference room. This includes all new, modern furniture, a large presenting screen with video conferencing capability and full WIFI access.

A Huge thanks to the County Durham Community Foundation for funding the project.

Community Litter Pick with Cllr Peter Atkinson

17 September 2020

This week Liam Fellows, our General Manager and Curtis Bihari, FSEC Communications Officer took part in a community litter pick with Cllr Peter Atkinson, Durham County Councillor for Ferryhill and Sharon Towers a local resident.

The team spent an hour and a half in Dean Bank picking litter from a particular spot which Cllr Atkinson had received numerous complaints about. The Team at FSEC are always willing to lend a hand and work with and in our community to benefit it in anyway possible.

Supporting our Local Foodbank

19 March 2020

This Afternoon our General Manager Liam and Customer Service Manager Paula donated £180 worth of food to the Ferryhill Foodbank to support their efforts in helping feed vulnerable people and their families. The food was purchased with donations made at our recent quiz night, from staff and with support from our Sainsbury's Local.

Thank you to everyone for their generosity!

Charity Fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust

1 March 2020

On the 29th February 2020 our centre hosted the Rhys Wayman Teenage Cancer Trust Charity Ball in partnership with Rhys's Family. The event to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust was in memory of Rhys who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2012. Over 100 people attended the black tie event to raise funds for the fantastic charity and we are pleased to say that over £3000 was raised.

Our sincere thanks go to all who attended, RIO and Highlights for the entertainment and CDB Productions for the lighting and effects.
